Oki

Oki

We will never forget your holy and pure love

May

The most dazzling season of beautiful carnations

In faraway Slovenia

There was an amazing mother

She dedicated her son to the Lord, dedicated to Taiwan

As she lay dying, Oki was still performing surgery operations, suppressing his deep grief

Only after completing operations did he walk back to his room

Alone, staring at the cherished portrait of his loving mother

Seeking her forgiveness

He knew that his mother would understand and forgive him

Finally he buried his heads in his hands reluctantly

Crying in grief

The next day

As petals fell in the morning…

The silhouette of the surgeon still showed up on time tothe clinic

This mother of grace, always prayed:

Grateful to the Lord

Thanked the ears of wheat

She always gently sowed the seeds of wheat in the flower pots

Carefully watering and taking good care of them

When they grew

With a grateful heart

She continued to say, "thank you for saving my son, Oki."

This son was Dr. Fenglong Fan(Oki)recipient of the Eighth Medical Contribution Award.

The devoted Catholic mother had hoped that Oki couldbecome a priest .

However, he decided to be a doctor and dedicate his life to the sick.

He followed the Camillians to Taiwan and devoted his life to Taiwan, to his patients.

Though he suffered hardship in his childhood, Oki did not choose to chase after wealth
instead it inspired him to want to serve the poor.

Such a noble spirit.

Dr. Oki often gave blood from one arm and operated with the other

If he found out a patient had no money, he woud offer all the cash he had to them

He would not tolerate any delays.

Because Oki knows, every second and minute wasted would increase the risk of surgery.

The wellness of the patients relied on his keen conscience.

Dr. Oki,

Your heart never forgets that they are suffering, even for one moment.

You are so passionate about your work.

Even at the age of seventy-eight, a month before you passed away,

You still operated on a sick child
with your frail body due to pneumonia

One month later, you entered heaven amidst floral scents and glory.

Through the fragrance of the ripening wheat, the legend of Dr. Fenglong Fan,

No one has yet broken your most perfect record of eighty thousand surgeries in your lifetime.

How could we even imagine such a heavy workload, that even your most beloved mother's passing could not take you away from your patients.

How many people can compare to you, can claim that they truly love Taiwan?

Taiwan's medical advances and technology are now world-renowned,

I sincerely hope that these doctors all have hearts like yours.

The most skilled surgeon in the field~

Dear Dr. Oki

I offer you a bouquet of white roses.

Thank you for loving Taiwan and its people so much.

Thank you to your kind mother, I offer her a bouquet of red carnations.

Thank the Lord for bringing a true angel from Slovenia to Taiwan

and so many dedicated medical staff full of flora and honey

We will never forget your holy and pure love.
